How to Get Your
Texas LTC
Reserve your seat online through our booking system. You'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need. Sign your safety waiver ahead of time to save time on class day.
Your certified instructor covers Texas firearms law, use of force, conflict resolution, non-violent dispute resolution, and safe handgun storage. No prior experience required.
Move to our indoor range for the state-required proficiency test. Fire 50 rounds at 3, 7, and 15 yards with instructor coaching and support throughout. Rentals available.
Receive your LTC-100 completion certificate same day. Your instructor walks you through the DPS online application so you can submit your paperwork right away.

Texas LTC Eligibility
- At least 21 years old (18+ if active military)
- Legal resident of the state of Texas
- No felony convictions
- Not currently charged with a Class A/B misdemeanor or felony
- Not chemically dependent
- Capable of sound judgment regarding handgun use and storage
What to Bring to Class
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Your handgun (or rent from our 100+ firearm fleet)
- Ammunition — at least 50 rounds (available in store)
- Eye and ear protection (available for purchase)
- Online course certificate (Range Qual only)

Got questions about getting your Texas License to Carry? Here are the answers our students ask most.
The full LTC Certification class typically takes 4–6 hours including classroom instruction and live-fire range qualification. The Online LTC Range Qualification (for those who completed the classroom portion online) takes approximately 1–2 hours for the shooting proficiency test.
No. Saddle River Range has over 100 firearms available for rental. You can rent a handgun for your LTC qualification, and our staff can help you choose the right firearm for the shooting test. Ammunition is also available for purchase in our retail store.
We offer multiple LTC sessions every month — we ran 53 LTC sessions in 2025 alone, serving 376 students. Classes are typically offered on weekends with additional weekday sessions available. Check our booking calendar for the next available date.
Yes. Texas allows the classroom portion to be completed online through approved providers. Once you finish the online classroom course, book our Online LTC Range Qualification session at Saddle River Range to complete your live-fire proficiency test. This is a popular option for students with busy schedules.
Our instructors are there to help you succeed. If you don't pass on the first attempt, we'll work with you on your technique and give you guidance on what to practice. We recommend our LTC Prep class or a Private Instruction session to build confidence and accuracy before retaking the qualification.
Full refund for cancellations made 72+ hours before class. Within 48 hours, a one-time reschedule within 4 months is available. Less than 24 hours before class, no refund or reschedule. Email training@saddleriverrange.com for cancellation requests.
You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a Texas License to Carry. Active-duty military members may apply at 18 years old. All other eligibility requirements — no felony convictions, Texas residency, etc. — still apply regardless of age.
Yes. Silver members receive a 15% discount on all training classes, and Gold members receive 25% off. If you're planning to take multiple training classes, a membership can pay for itself quickly. Memberships start at $25/month for Range Basics with unlimited range access.
