What to Bring
Federal Law
Made Simple
Why You Need an FFL Transfer
Federal law requires that firearms purchased from dealers in another state or from most online sellers must be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer before the buyer can take possession. This process ensures all transfers are legal, compliant, and properly documented.
Saddle River Range is a fully licensed FFL dealer. We handle all the paperwork, background checks, and federal requirements so you can enjoy your new firearm with complete peace of mind.
We stay current on federal and Texas state regulations so you do not have to. If you have questions about whether a specific firearm or item can be transferred, call us before you purchase.
Non-NFA Items
Standard pistols, rifles, shotguns, and most semi-automatic firearms. $75 transfer fee, same-day pickup after background check approval.
NFA Items
Suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBR), short-barreled shotguns (SBS), and machine guns. $100 transfer fee. ATF tax stamp still required but now FREE (fee eliminated January 2025). ATF Form 4 paperwork and approval still required.

FFL Transfer
FAQ
Non-NFA transfers are a flat $75 per firearm — pistols, rifles, shotguns, and all non-NFA regulated items. NFA item transfers (suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, etc.) are $100 per item. The ATF tax stamp is still required but is now FREE — the fee was eliminated in January 2025.
An FFL (Federal Firearms License) transfer is the legal process of transferring ownership of a firearm purchased from an online retailer, another dealer, or a private seller through a licensed firearms dealer. Federal law requires that all firearm purchases from unlicensed sellers and most online purchases be transferred through an FFL dealer. Saddle River Range is a licensed FFL dealer.
First, purchase your firearm from an online retailer or other seller. Then have the seller ship the firearm directly to Saddle River Range (use our FFL information below). When the firearm arrives, we will contact you to come in, complete your 4473 background check form, and take possession of your firearm after approval.
Contact us at ffl@saddleriverrange.com or call 936-271-2620 to request our FFL dealer information and shipping instructions. We will provide you with our FFL license number and the exact shipping address and instructions to give your seller.
Once the firearm arrives at our facility, we will contact you promptly. The in-store process typically takes 15-30 minutes including completing the ATF Form 4473 and waiting for NICS background check approval. Most background checks are approved instantly or within minutes.
Yes. We handle NFA item transfers including suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBR), short-barreled shotguns (SBS), and other NFA-regulated items. The transfer fee is $100 per item. The ATF tax stamp is still required but is now FREE — the fee was eliminated in January 2025. NFA transfers require additional ATF paperwork and ATF approval, so wait times are longer than standard transfers. Contact us at ffl@saddleriverrange.com for details.
